IFDATA Secures U.S. Patent for Advanced Fracturing Efficiency Diagnostic System

We are thrilled to announce that IFDATA has been granted U.S. Patent No. 12,312,927 B1, titled “Fracking Efficiency Evaluation System and Methods of Use”, officially published on May 27, 2025.

What This Innovation Delivers
Our patented system enables a quantitative, stage-level analysis of hydraulic fracturing efficiency, leveraging distributed strain data captured by fiber-optic sensors in monitoring wells. Key features include:

  • Using low-frequency distributed acoustic sensing (LF-DAS) combined with a geomechanical inversion algorithm, the system translates strain data into precise fracture width measurements.
  • With calculated fracture widths, the system derives meaningful efficiency indicators such as fracture unevenness, surface area parameters, fracture-density, width-density, and leakage volume estimates for each completion stage.
  • By moving beyond purely qualitative "frac hit" signals, our solution integrates both time-dependent behaviors and quantitative fracture geometry — offering a richer, more actionable interpretation.

This patent underscores our commitment to turning complex DAS data into practical intelligence - enabling smarter stimulation strategies and stronger outcomes for unconventional reservoirs.
